About the data

Studies. Every study on this site is a clinical trial or research study registered on ClinicalTrials.gov, the registry run by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). We download all studies that are recruiting at sites in the United States every day and show them as registered: titles, summaries and eligibility criteria are the official English text. The information is provided by each study's sponsor or investigator; NLM does not verify it, and neither do we.

Conditions. Studies are grouped by the medical subject headings the registry assigns. Everyday names of conditions (in English and Spanish) and short descriptions come from MedlinePlus (NLM).

Places. Each study site is placed in the nearest large city within about 30 miles; the distance is measured in a straight line from the city center.

Payment. The «mentions payment» label only means the study's own text mentions compensation, payment or reimbursement. Ask the study team for details.
